Dave has just arrived in New York City after a successful stint in Austin turning heads with his showcases at SXSW. Dave’s been getting props all over and it’s great to see that an American audience can be so open-minded and accepting of the concept of ‘a rapper from New Zealand’.
In particular Chris Faraone, a Hip Hop journalist, was one of the heads that was turned. Originally from Queens, Faraone writes for the The Boston Phoenix and has written for several publications including Elemental, Spin, and The Source. Here’s what Faraone had to say about Dave’s Thursday night showcase on his Boston Phoenix SXSW blog:
Afterwards I rolled with Philly beast Icon the Mic King to the Back Alley Social Club, where I made my first big discovery of the week. New Zealand MC David Dallas – who “raises more hands than Hitler” – is someone to definitely listen for.
